Working with the CEO Task Force to Advance Racial Equity at Equitable Holdings, Inc. was a truly rewarding experience. I’m proud to have worked with a majority Black and brown team that demanded tangible investment in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives within their company and the financial services industry, and pushed for serious programming to uplift and support Black wealth.
As part of the creative team at nacci, and in collaboration with Equitable’s marketing team, I wrote the script for a Black History Month video in 2021. I also led copywriting efforts in the creation of a life insurance sales presentation geared toward Black potential clients; an internal pitch deck to make the case for refreshed messaging and increased investment in the CEO Task Force’s programming; and an employee persona project that helped inform how the company could improve internal processes for BIPOC employees.

What defines a legacy? Is it the home you share with the one who makes life worth living?
Is it the foundation you build for the little hands and feet that keep you on your toes?
Is it the courage to say "enough is enough" and stand on the right side of history?
At Equitable, we define our legacy through the impact we make on people’s lives. For over 160 years, we’ve challenged the status quo, helping people of all backgrounds achieve financial well-being.
We’ve partnered with Black icons and organizations to help support educators and revitalize our communities. We’ve insured the legends of our time, choosing to help protect Black wealth, even in the face of naysayers and prejudice.
Yet we’ve only just begun.
We still have much to do to ensure our loved ones can retire with dignity,
to empower diverse leaders in the financial industry,
and to enable a new generation of Black wealth.
And because our word is only as good as our action,
we continue to develop the strategies for a more equitable society.
This isn’t about “checking a box,” or responding to a trend.
Financial equity is a necessity.
This mission isn’t new, but for us, it will always be relevant.
It’s part of our history—and the heartbeat of our future.
